    Attention! This video contains mistakes:
    3:17 - the tightening torque is 70 Nm + 90°, not 75 Nm.
    3:56 - the tightening torque is 4 Nm, not 9 Nm.
    4:16 - the tightening torque is 90 Nm, not 75 Nm.
    We're sorry for the inconvenience 🙇‍♂

    Great video as always, and very helpful! However one caution the Hub bolt torque is a lot higher than 75NM its 200NM + 180degrees.

    Should show the process of retracting the piston back In the break caliper, and add the press on the tool needed list. Great video overall. Very helpful.

    The biggest confusion here is about a proper torque of a hub bolt. To clarify: the old-style bolt with ribs - 80 nm + 1/4 turn. New style bolt without ribs - 200 nm + 1/2 turn

    Bearing bolt is a stretch bolt, needs to be tightened another 45 degrees after torque

    I'm sure the tightening Torque for the securing bolt is 180nm + 180°? Not 75nm

    • @neilg3364
      @neilg3364 5 лет назад +3

      I'm sure it is aswell. I've just watched the front wheel bearing change on mk6 golf and they said 80nm? I mean 40 less than wheel bolt, that can't be right

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you for your feedback.The fact is that the tightening torque depends on the hub design and the type of the clamping bolt, in our case we adhered to the tightening torque strictly according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, however you can find detailed information in the technical documentation for your car repair.Best regards,Autodoc!

      I just did the job myself, and the bearing won't rotate if it's any tighter than 75nm
      Edit : Now I'm not so sure anymore. I'm leaning towards believing it's 180nm+180°
      I found the workshop manual for MK6 Golf, and it clearly states 180nm+180°
      This is also backed up by humble mechanic. I think I screwed up by watching this video, and using their torque numbers.

    • @dopiaza2006
      @dopiaza2006 3 года назад

      @@Qgal5kap123 It depends on the design of the new hub bolt. if it has a ribbed surface then the torque figure is lower.

    I wonder how I'm going to know when to change my hub wheel bearing?

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  16 дней назад

      Common signs of a bad wheel bearing are:
      - Increased noise or vibration when driving. A bad bearing may make grinding, buzzing, or squeaking sounds.
      - Excessive play or wobble in the wheel. If the wheel has noticeable play or wobble when driving, it may indicate a bearing problem.
      - Hot wheel hub. A bad bearing can cause the hub to overheat, which may be noticeable when touching the wheel.
      - Uneven tire wear. Bearing problems can cause the load on the tire to be distributed unevenly, causing it to wear unevenly.
      - Decreased vehicle handling. A bad bearing can affect the vehicle's handling, making it less stable on the road.

    I’m working on replacing the rear wheel bearings on my 2010 VW CC. Does the rear wheel hub bolt on the driver side of a 2010 VW CC have opposite tread? Or can they just be super stubborn? It looks very clean around the bolt so l don’t think it’s corrosion. But the bolt won’t budge. To make an idiot of myself, l tried both directions but turned to RUclips for help

      The central bolt has a standard direction and is unscrewed counterclockwise, we also faced such a problem, and a metering lever helped us in solving this problem.

      You only get reverse threads on bearings that have to have the end float set. Pre-packed and sized bearings are just torqued down and that's it.

    Always check whether you have the bearing bolt with ribs or without ribs. Check other comments for proper torque. 75 NM stated in this video is wrong and this video should have at least information about correct torque on the first line of description. Also for my GOLF mk6 variant 90kw TSI instead of XZN 12 it was XZN 14 (brake caliper bolt). Bolt XZN 18 for bearing was correct.

    Does the abs sensor read wheel speed from the wheel bearing or the brake rotor? Just replaced my right rear abs sensor and still getting a fault code. Wondering if the sensor pickup is maybe faulty but not sure if it is on the rotor or bearing thanks.

      Brake it loose with the wheel still on the car and on the ground. Just remove the VW wheel cap. Once cracked, jack up and carry on
